It's disc brakes being raced at the highest level of cyclocross-the World 'Cross champs in Koksijde, Belgium 2012.  USA team member Tim Johnson of the Cannondale outfit obviously isn't too bothered with yes/no debate as he ploughs through the deep sand at this testing venue.  The 'Dale bikes were equipped with Avid mechanical discs rather than an hydraulic system. Whether more powerful brakes are needed at such a course is questionable - and this may have been Johnson's second bike - but the fact remains; discs are being raced at top level.
